Process optimization at Topsil GlobalWafers A/S
The robot automated solution we have delivered to them reduces, among other things, manual work in the production, and has a positive impact on the working environment, as employees do not have to move the silicon parts manually.
The robot cell consists of a 120 kg KUKA robot, a specially developed QRS servogripper for handling the silicon parts, ranging from 100-400 mm in length to 100-200 mm in diameter and weighing up to +30 kg, QR scanner, special software and safety fence.
You can see the robot cell in action in the video

Robot cell cycle
The operator places the wagons with the silicon parts in the docking station and starts the robot.
The robot then scans the wagons so that the location, diameter and length of the items are defined. Once the robot has identified the right measurements, it grabs the part and scans the parts QR code using the QR scanner.
The robot then acces an SQL server and finds the unique subject data associated with the QR code. Afterwards the item is placed in the Kardex storage system in the optimal position in relation to space optimization.
When an item is to be retrieved from the Kardex storage system, the robot scans the SQL order list, finds the items in question in the Kardex and places them on outwagons. Through the database, a code can be added to the part. The code helps the production employees in the further handling of the part, and is automatically engraved before the part is discharged onto the wagon.
