Robotic automation ensures fast turnaround and competitive prices at Formkon A/S
Robotic automation by Formkon's CNC machine provides optimal use of employees' time and skills, thereby increasing their competitiveness in the global market.
To ensure 24-hour utilisation, fast turnaround times and competitive pricing, Formkon sought a solution that could unattended handle round parts of varying diameters in and out of their Mazak I 200 multitasking machine. The robotic automation would also free up employees to spend time on their core competencies instead of operating the machine manually.
For this purpose, QRS supplied an efficient SmartZell T70 with a 70 kg KUKA robot, a 3-jaw double gripper that can grip both raw material and finished parts, two trolleys for raw material and finished parts respectively, and safety guards, as seen in the video.
Effektiv cyklus: Robotcelle håndterer emner hurtigt og præcist
The KUKA robot loads the parts from one carriage into the CNC machine, picks up the finished parts and places them on the other carriage. It can handle round workpieces of varying sizes from approximately Ø40 mm to Ø200 mm (outside diameter), and stackable workpieces it can pick up and deliver in layers to make full use of the carriages' capacity. The operator can easily switch between workpiece sizes on the supplied HMI interface, and new workpieces can be introduced in less than 5 minutes. That's smart robotic automation!
